Autographs for Sale

The fact that so many celebrities find their autographs up for sale is really annoying to them. In protest of this fact, many of them don’t sign on a regular basis anymore. They are more concerned with promoting their skills or even supporting other organizations with their time.

Yet many celebrities are more than willing to sign for a good cause. Jay Leno is famous for having motorcycles, jackets and more signed by handfuls of celebrities. The money raised from the sales of these items goes for various charities that Leno supports. This is a great way for those in such a position to offer their support as well.

You will find plenty of places online that offer autographs for sale. You definitely what to do your homework to make sure that it is a real signature. There are plenty of ways to fake a good one these days. You may pay hundreds of dollars for an autograph to discover it isn’t legitimate.

Many sporting goods stores offer autographs for sale from various players. They may be on helmets, balls, jerseys, or other items. The cost of such an autograph depends on the status of the player. When they retire or they change teams their items are often worth more. It is a good idea to get your autographed sports items when someone is still a rookie before the prices increase.

It is amazing what people are willing to pay for a certain autograph though. Some of them are very rare due to the person choosing not to give out very many of them. Collectors look for these rare items and they are often willing to pay thousands of dollars once they have verified that the autograph is real.

If you are interested in a particular autograph, you should be able to locate it. You may not like the price associated with it though. Still, having such autographed items can be fun. Some people make a living though out of getting these autographs and then selling them. It is controversial as to if it is ethical for them to be doing so. Many celebrities feel that they are being exploited in this manner.

Sports Autographs

Sports Autographs

Sports has taken on a life of its own in our society, and those in the spotlight for them are in our awe. The status of these sports players makes the celebrities by their own rights. Some people have a certain team that they love or particular players on that team. Regardless, they want to get autographs from the players that they can cherish. Depending on the sport this may be possible after the game.

There are many different forms that sports autographs can be found on. Generally the uniforms they wear to play their game are the most wanted. This can be bats, balls, helmets, and jerseys. People love to have the actual items that were worn for practice sessions and the games.

Due to their popularity, many sports players offer their autographs as part of charity events. They have no problem signing particular items that will be sold to raise money. It is very interesting to discover how much these autographed items go for. If you are lucky enough to see a particular player out there in public from time to time you may be able to get their autograph without any charge.

Many of us don’t readily identify sports players locally though. For example you may only live a few hours from where a professional football or baseball team lives. You may not be able to recognize these guys when they are out shopping or they are enjoying a meal. In that regard, they get some privacy that other types of celebrities just don’t get.

It is hard to tell which sports players will end up with their autographs being worth money or not. Sadly, Shawn Taylor who was shot at home earlier in the NFL season didn’t make it. His autographed items are selling out there for a fortune right now as people know there won’t be anymore of it offered.

The cost of sports autographs varies depending on their demand. For rookies, they aren’t quite selling. If you can get your hands on some rookie autographs though before they become so well recognized you will save yourself a great deal of money. It is all a guessing game though so your choices should be based on who you really like.

Collectible Autographs

Collectible Autographs

What is deemed to be a collectible autograph is different for each of us. You may want one from a person you have admired throughout history for their contributions. Others want something along the lines of politics, and they attend the various debates to collect these autographs from all the Presidential hopefuls. Celebrities including actors, musicians, and sports players are very common as well.

For many of us an autograph we get on our own by interacting with that celebrity is a collectible. We will treasure it forever and love to tell people all about it. We don’t care if it has any monetary value associated with it either. We only want to remember the good time we had obtaining it.

For others, collectible autographs are those that they buy from dealers or other people. They generally don’t end up meeting the person that signed it yet they really want to collect it anyway. The can cost about $10 or even $10,000 depending on who the celebrity is.

The fewer of them circulating the more collectible they are. For example Michael Jackson rarely signs autographs so anyone with one is sitting on a collectible that is worth plenty of cash. Those that are deceased including Marilyn Monroe and James Dean. Even though they have been dead for decades their legacy lives on.

Regardless of what your personal interests are, you will find plenty of collectible autographs out there that fit it. You can choose to buy one instead of clinging to the hope that you will one day run into your favorite icon and get one. Don’t be afraid to ask for autographs though as most will be willing to do so as long as you are respectful of them.

If you don’t get the collectible autograph on your own, be wary of where you do get it from. There are plenty of fakes out there circulating too and you don’t want to get ripped off. There are some promoters out there that do have the direct access to various people though. They do have real autographs and they are cashing in on the desire other people have to own them.

Celebrity Autographs

Celebrity Autographs

Most of us have a handful of celebrities that we would love to get an autograph from. Mine include all the members of the band Bon Jovi, the actor Johnny Depp, and Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam. Yet getting celebrity autographs isn’t something you can just do because you want to. Even if you make it to a concert or filming of shows there is often very little chance of that type of interaction.

Don’t rule out it ever happening though as you may just get lucky. In many instances it comes down to being at the right place at the right time. Make sure you have a pen and paper ready too. Of course if you have a photo that is great too. If the celebrity knows they will be offering autographs they often carry photos with them as well. Some celebrities are very free with signing autographs while others find it to be a task they don’t want to be part of.

Sometimes there are events hosted where you will be sure to meet the celebrity and get an autograph. These are very exciting events but you had better plan to wait in line for a very long time. You aren’t going to be the only one interested in that particular celebrity. Some events including Country Jam makes sure that as many people get the autographs they want as possible.

Sometimes you can get one from a fan club if you join as well. Many of them have a membership fee. One of the many perks is to receive an autograph from the celebrity. Most of us will likely have to settle for a celebrity autograph from a different method though. We may have to buy one from someone else that would rather than the money than the autograph.

Some of them are extremely affordable while others are outright ridiculous. Still, some collectors and true die hard fans are willing to pay a premium price for that original signature. There is also the problem though of people forging the autographs of various celebrities. With the right tool it can be copied well enough that it can appear quite original to the naked eye.

Original Autographs

Autographs

An autograph is a person’s signature and each one of us has a different way that we write. It is common for other people to want to collect the autograph of those they admire. It can be a political figure, a dancer, someone from the Olympics, a rock star, an athlete, and many other categories. Giving out autographs is often associated with the amount of fame a person has. Those original autographs can certainly be worth money later on though.

The autography can be on just about anything you can imagine. Paper and books are very common. Yet it is also possible for someone to place their autograph on your body or to put it on an article of clothing. For most people the memory of getting the autograph is worth much more than what is written on it. This means they got the autograph by meeting that person.

However, you will be able to find plenty of autographed materials online. They can be sports balls, pictures, clothes, and other objects. Many collectors want them even though they didn’t get to meet the person. You do have to be very careful where you buy such autograph items from though. Not all of them are authentic. Even the certificate of authenticity that comes with them can be a clever copy.

The more generous a person is with their autograph though they less valuable they are. Yet most people want them for sentimental and personal value rather than retail value. Those autographs from people that have contributed to society or that have passed away though are often worth a great deal.

Some celebrities have chosen not to provide their autographs and that is an issue that doesn’t sit well. They may come off as being unapproachable by their fans and this can result in them not supporting them any more. Many celebrities feel that they should be recognized for their talents though and not for their autograph.

You also have celebrities that don’t like the idea of signing a picture for someone and later finding it on e-Bay. They feel taken advantage of and exploited. The personal decisions to offer autographs or not is up to the individual. It can be fun to gather autographs from those that haven’t made it yet too. You never know when they may end up being the next big star.
